WORKSHOP IN FLORIDA

TUTORS: PIER PAOLO PICIUCCO & FLAVIO CERRI

28 december 2019- 3 january 2020 (7 days/ 8 nights)

Florida, as the name itself indicates, is a natural paradise for wildlife photography, for the abundant presence of bird species ― migratory and non-migratory ― reptiles and mammals. Florida is the US state that flaunts the widest variety of natural parks (according to offical numbers they are 173!) so that if on the one hand it is fascinating to move around them, on the other hand this range may be a little too disorienting.

This workshop in Florida is dedicated to anyone interested in nature photography in general, and will drive participants towards finding their own way of expression in this field: in other words, it is thought for the photographer who wants to accept the challenges of wildlife photography, starting from those who still have some technical doubts or indecisions, up to those who have already acquired familiarity with the genre. The final goal is to gather enough material for an appropriate photographic portfolio.

We are going to meet at Orlando Int Airport on 27 December, where participants will find a shuttle to the hotel. During the 7 days we will move across several parks ― through wetlands, woodlands and coastlines ― in order to have a widest possible chance of viewing swamp birds, passerines, woodpeckers, raptors, as well as alligators, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Among these, bobcats, bears and cougars in particular are rarer but this year we have caught sight of a furtive bobcat roaming among the weeds for a few indelible moments.

Winter season ― with temperatures alternating between cool and mild ― offers the great advantage of getting rid of the mosquito problem, a situation that may turn into a torture in other periods. The workshop reaches conclusion on the evening of 3 January, and the day after the participants will enjoy a free-shuttle service to Orlando Int Airport.
